about

Classic Minneapolis "All Girl" band from the '80s transports itself to 2013 and beyond.

They haven't played since 1987 when they called it quits. But now one of Minnesota's pioneering and highly influential bands from the state's second golden era of music, Têtes Noires, have returned with a fitting, newly remixed version of their much loved second disc, "American Dream"(Rapunzel Records, 1984).

Titled "The New American Dream" (East Saint Paul Records), the minimalist remix undertaken by the sextet's keyboardist, Angela Frucci, perfectly explains why trendy music club crowds around the country swooned over the French-named band (which translates as "black heads"; all of the Têtes’ band members were brunettes). The project features such players as Zara Bode and Stefan Amidon of the Sweetback Sisters. Primo sounds, impeccable singing, irreverent, funny, and biting lyrics. Yes siree!
